There giving this away free? This album is great. I spent the day at the pool working through a stack of Amazon samplers and free songs, erasing those I didn't like, saving this album for last, and what a revelation. A little DMB, a little Eric Hutchinson, a little country, just great stuff. Should be a staple at every SEC tailgate.

Okay, admittedly, I have not given this "album" a thorough listen yet . . . and my 5 star ("I love it") rating is based on a listening of all of the track samples and just the first two full tracks, since downloading the album . . . but I believe that most of us have had the experience of listening to an album and getting a real good feeling about only a small portion of the tracks that it contains. It's been a rare opportunity to enjoy a whole album (at least with what's been released over the last 'few' years - I'm 44! - ) but I've enjoyed all of what I've heard here. A real nice vibe that makes me want to learn it so that I can sing and groove along to it (closet performer?!??!) Usually, I don't feel guilty for downloading something for FREE, 'cause I don't usually like it that much anyway . . . but I may just have to go and buy some Benjy! To close, I would add Marc Cohn to the list of similar artists (yay!).

I can't believe I picked this album up as a free sampler. This band has some gems on this album that would make it worth buying, but downloading it for free is a gift from heaven! They have a new sound but still has a bluegrass/folk sound to their songs. "Check Your Pocket" and "Sweet Southern Moon" as well as "Same Damn Book" infuse southern lyrics with a Kentucky bluegrass beat while winding it all up with modern and contemporary themes. Do yourself a big favor and download this album.

Free? Serioiusly? This is a sampler of the Benjy Davis Project's music through this decade, including their latest release, LOST SOULS LIKE US, and my absolute favorite, DUST. Genre bending, country-folk-alt-indie rock, largely upbeat, catchy tunes, these guys just hook you and reel you in. And this sampler is FREE FREE FREE! Paper Trails also contains my favorite new song, Sweet Southern Moon, a wonderful coming-of-age/nostalgic love song of time and place. Check them out and then get their whole albums. You'll be happy you did.
