5 out of 5 stars The Weber Q 320   October 14, 2008
D. Henry (Hendersonville, NC United States)
I looked at propane grills for some time locally. My last grill was (is) a Weber - a charcoal model and it still works well but I was ready to opt for more convenience. Weber quality is "alive and well" in the new model Q320. I have multiple areas in my yard that serve well as a likely grilling site so I opted for the "portable" model. Really it is a bit heavy to take too far and the handles used to lift the un-wheeled end of the unit are short (not much leverage) so it isn't amazingly easy to roll too far. And, despite the aluminum cast lid, it is a bit heavy but I'm not complaining - you can't have sturdy and light in the same model. It works really well, heats evenly and looks really nice. I considered the Q300 but the Q320 has a larger grill surface than the Q300 and the handle light which I have found very useful and convenient - it turns off when the lid is down so it is hands free -- which is a good thing when trying to juggle all the grilling necessities. Assembly was not too difficult - took about an hour by myself following the pictures in the assembly manual. The grill surface is really substantial and leaves perfect grill marks on whatever you are grilling. A nice grill.

5 out of 5 stars BEST GRILL EVER   October 10, 2008

If you read any of the other 5 star reviews of this grill, they are all true. This grill not only has 2 cross-member burner bars, but a square outer bar which surrounds the entire permimeter of the grill rack allowing perfect and even heat distribution. I grill all of the time all year and have been through a lot of grills. This is the best I have ever had, It is lightweight, looks very classy, and works great. I can honestly say it is the best grill I have ever had (No problem carrying it from the 2nd story deck to the downstairs patio), and leaves great sear marks to boot, making you look like a world class griler!

5 out of 5 stars Great grill   September 10, 2008

New house, new grill. It really is exceptional. This is our first long-term investment grill, and, now that I see the build quality, I realize how stupid it was to buy a $100 grill every three or four years like I had. This has a higher initial price, but it's the first grill I've ever had that has reached and maintained a constant temperature and cooked consistently. Once you learn where and how to set your knobs for heat control it's as easy as cooking something in your kitchen's oven, and it's plenty big for a family of four. I'm posting a photo of the grill open with three large boneless chicken breasts to give people an idea of capacity. I'm very impressed.

I can't stress how well built it is. I'd looked at the home improvements stores at their stock of higher priced Weber Spirits, but this one is less expensive and much better built. It does use a lot of plastic for the stand and side tables, but I haven't felt uncomfortable with it. It's designed well and is very solid, and much heavier than I expected. A very stable platform.

It's not a deal maker or breaker, but I'd thought the lid handle light was a silly idea when I was putting the grill together (piece of cake, btw). It turned out to be a very good idea. It can be turned on manually, or it can be set to activate when the lid is lifted. No carrying flashlights out and no shadows on the food when cooking at night. It comes with couple of replaceable Weber branded tin drip pans, but I'm sure the size is something easily available in the baking aisle. It's nice to not have to use a soup can. It's little details like that make me confident the rest of the grill is as well thought out.

If you keep your eyes open you'll find Amazon will have it on sale occasionally. If you don't have a garage to put it in between uses, use the money you save to buy the Q 6553 cover. It fits perfectly.

5 out of 5 stars Great Family Grill   September 1, 2008

5 out of 5 stars Best gas grill I ever owned   August 31, 2008

Took less than an hour to set up. Solid product, looks great, not "tinny" nor "tiny" heavy rock solid construction.

Heats up very fast - to 450 degrees within 1 minute. 550 degrees in another 30 seconds. -wow!!!!!!!!!

Cooks GREAT steak with seared in flavor - charred outside, rare inside the only way I like steak. MEANWHILE rhe warming eack allows me to cook up a "medium" steak at the same time. This is how my wife likes her steak - although cooking a good steak to medium is a waste of good meat.

Anyway - as you can probably tell, we are commited PETA people - People Eating Tasty Animals - and for all people like us, this is the gas grill for you. Of course you could spend $7000 and get something that cooks just as well as the Q320 -except it would use more propane gas quicker.

This Q320 is the gas grill to buy. Beware the earlier model Q300 which is the same grill, but without the warming tray, the really cool LED light on the top, and without a battery powered ignition switch.

I luv it. and will use it next to my Weber charcoal grill that I bought back in 1971 and is still working like a champ. Its gratifying to see an AMERICAN company can still put out the highest quality, most competitive product setting the GOLD STANDARD for the competition.
