Absolutely adore it! July 3, 2009 Candy (Austin, TX) I love this thing! I have had it for quite a while now and I use it all the time. It's so easy to use that even the kids can use it, there's only a few buttons and the quality is really great for web-based videos. The best part for me is the software that is loaded ON the camera. I can take this with me anywhere and as long as I have a computer with a USB port, I can upload videos directly to You Tube or make simple edits. This is a fabulous camera for taking quick videos... it stays in my camera bag or purse for on-the-go camcording. A must have for a gadget geek!
good for computer video, does not replace camcorder July 3, 2009 Jee (Lubbock, Texas United States) I like this little gadget. It does what it says. The quality looks good on a pc monitor, however, is grainy when shown on a tv. So if you want to show your home videos on a tv (or burn to a DVD), better go for a regular camcorder. If you want to watch your videos on a pc, this works great. The software seems to be a bit cranky. I can't always 'capture' a still shot when I want to & if I start to make a movie from the clips, then change my mind, the clips seem to disappear & the software can't find them, even though they are still on my hard drive.
Why isn't this a video review? July 3, 2009 G. C. Picchetti (Country Lost Face) This is a $[...] appliance. It has glitches but it's not the end of the world for what it is; a utility. When you share on line it tends to adore itself in that it wants to advertise itself. You can delete the logo on You Tube but not FaceBook. [...]. Perhaps that is a good thing for your own security. You have to send videos for your friends to put on their YT pages to your You Tube page then share it with your friend's YT page. On FaceBook it comes out as a link therefore it does not stay in your video collection on your FB page. The folders in your documents are odd as well. Your videos are numbered not the names you have given them. Still in all I do not bemoan the fact I bought this cute little camcorder. It has challenged my geekyness which I can handle. I have nice videos of my horseback riding lessons, my beautiful cat, Michel, and a couple local bands. I was able to use it right away. I still have not tried to make a DVD. I hope to get it together to try that and rewrite this review as a video!
Nice and simple July 2, 2009 Matthew Shanley No bells, whistles, or options, but very easy to use. The video and audio quality are decent. I've had no problems with this camera.
Not so good July 2, 2009 James Devine (Helena, MT) I had high hopes for this product, but the software was its downfall. I put the software on three of my computers thinking it was a problem with one of them, but they all did the same thing. It tried to crash two of them. When I installed it, it changed everything on my desktop, the theme, the background, the size of the desktop fonts. Very intrusive software. Also, it got to when I had the camera plugged in, it would eject it automatically within a few seconds making transfer of some of my video impossible. Didnt bother requesting a replacement, so that could have been an option as well. I read the other reviews and many were positive, so it works for some, but not on mine. (Win XP SP3) Beware.
