1 out of 5 stars Caveat Emptor   June 13, 2010

I purchased the 10 lb. (5 lbs. per ankle) package thinking what a great idea it would be to add some extra weight to lose extra pounds. Well, first off this theory is a great idea but when ankle weights are as poorly designed as these you might as well strap 2 bags of potatoes on your leg. These are Very Bulky and although they strap on easy enough, once straps are tightened the pain begins... I started with only 3 lbs. per ankle, "weights" are actually 5 mini plastic covered bags of a sand like material, be careful when you remove these they are liable to rip. After about 3 days of working out with these weights I developed a nasty blister/pain at the bottom of my shin, seems like weights move as you walk (even when properly tightened) and rub at the part where foot meets leg. I tried using these a couple of more times but pain only got worse, these were thereby put in Mondays trash pickup and never heard from since. I'm sure there are better designs out there but AVOID these at all costs, very disappointing!

3 out of 5 stars Too bulky!   June 1, 2010

I went to the store fully intending on buying these. I saw the good reviews and was super excited. When I got to the store they had them out on display and I decided to try them on. They are way too bulky! I'm not small either. I'm average sized and these were just too big and uncomfortable. I tried to walk around in them but it was too hard as they kept hitting each other. The material that they are made of isn't soft so they felt abrasive when I was walking around. On a positive note, they have a large velcro strap that will accommodate any sized ankle. They are adjustable and the little sand bags (that's what they look like) are removable so you can add or remove weight to your liking. However, I decided to skip these and went with a pair of Gold's Gym ankle weights.

The velcro side is upside down so it does not lock. uslesss product.
I also discovered Amazne return procedures is lots of work and stinks.
Products shiped should include a return form for easy returns.

5 out of 5 stars Great product great price   April 22, 2010

I did quite a bit of research before purchasing these weights. I was still a little concerned about the fit (some reviews say these are much too large) but I am very happy with the fit, material, and ease of use. I am 5' 4" 134lb adult female, and these fit my ankles very well ( I do think they'd be too big for my wrists, but I wanted ankle weights). The velcro is very sturdy, the material is very durable, and these don't slide around as I exercise nor do they rub against my skin. There are 5 separate 1lb weights (bags of sand I think) and it's great that I can change the weight in 1lb increments as I choose, they are easy to get in and out, and no chance of them falling out while exercising, there's a flap that velcro's them in. Great buy and always easy to order products through Amazon.

5 out of 5 stars As Advertised, Great Price with Prime Shipping   April 18, 2010

Valeo AW10 10-Pound Adjustable Ankle / Wrist Weights

Hey - they're only leg weights!

Great price with Prime shipping (available when I ordered mine) and they are relatively comfortable for the short time you will wear them.

You can wash them by taking weights out if they get smelly or dirty.

I was warned to avoid walking or running with leg or arm weights because of the added rotational momentum they will place on joints and ligaments. I see people doing this, presumably because they believe that it helps them lose weight or gain strength, which is apparently a poor choice.
